субботу вечером с одним высокопоставленным российским чинов­ником, отдыхавшим и расслаблявшимся после сложных разоружен­ческих переговоров на Чесапикском заливе, произошел пренеприят­ный случай — он стал плохо слышать на одно ухо и испытывал стран­ные ощущения. Местный эскулап, внимательно изучив своеобразный и во многом уникальный рельеф наковальни и молоточка чиновника, радостно сообщил, что ничего страшного со слухом не произошло, про­сто там Diptera. Чиновник был весьма удручен неспособностью пере­водчика грамотно и доступно объяснить, что же на самом деле проис­ходит в его опухшем ухе. Переводчику едва не стоило карьеры незна­ние подходящего русского термина, но в тот вечер чиновник был в до­бром расположении духа и смилостивился.
